Upgrade Oracle EBS R12.2.0 to R12.2.4

The latest available version of  Oracle E-Business suite is R12.2.0 and the latest available. In this article I will demonstrate upgrading Oracle EBS from R12.2.0 to R12.2.4.

This post will be helpful for those who are performing a fresh Installation and planning to upgrade it  to R12.2.4. The latest available version of start CD is R12.2.0.48 and it can be downloaded via patch "Patch 18086193 "

If you Install Oracle EBS using start CD R12.2.0.48 then you need to Install minimum number of patches in order to upgrade to R12.2.4

The below upgrade has been performed on a virtual machine configured with 12GB RAM and 6 core processors.

Environment: Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.7 (64-Bit)
EBS Version :  Oracle EBS R12.2.0 (using start CD 12.2.0.48)

The following are the list of patches need to be Installed on Oracle EBS Tech Stack components before proceeding with the upgrade:

If used other version of start CD during Installation then there will be some other patches you need to Install before proceeding with the upgrade. The above list of patches are applicable and only available pre-requisites currently. This list might get also change in future. So please refer MOS tech note "Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.2: Consolidated List of Patches and Technology Bug Fixes (Doc ID 1594274.1)"  to check for latest updates,

These patch number are specific to Linux-64 bit. Different OS will have different patch numbers. So please refer above listed tech note.

Magnificent guide!!

Everything worked flawlessly.

Hi,

I installed oracle ebs 12.2.0 successfully using startCD Version 12.2.0.49 and then tried to do database patches(p18260550) according to the consolidated list of patches and technology bug fixes(Doc ID: 1594274.1)

But I have some prerequisite patches (p10831683 and up to the p20760997).
So I try to apply the patch (20760997) with so many conflicts.
I rollbacked all of the conflict patches and then applied the patch 20760997.

but in the other database patch like 18614015, that patch has the conflict with the patch 20760997 again.

so what do I have to do in this situation?

Thanks

Hi,

According to 1594274.1 doc, I think you missed a lot of database patches.
I can see a few of database patches are applied.

is there any reason for that?

Thanks
John

Hi

Sure it works fine according to your post.
Could you please make a note about how to get a list of database patches ?
I know the document ID 1594274.1 doc.

Thanks

Hello Xaheer,
Thank you very much very detailed instructions. I followed the steps and it worked flawlessly expect few things,
1) My oracle linux was 6.7 64-bit
2) I started with start CD version 49 so patches were some different. Some of the other patches different.
3) Also some of the patches were superseded since the time you wrote the article. So, I applied those newer patches.

I did not receive any error and everything returns with status 0. But following services are not starting on my app server (OAM DAshboard) - 'Host Status',Admin , 'Concurrent Processing' not started. x against them. I can log on to the application and launch form server fine but when I submit the concurrent request, It is simply waiting there. Could you please let me know what and where to look for.
thank you

Hi,

Thank you very much for this post :)

Please can you advise which environment file to source when starting step 5:

5 - Install EBS Application patches:

All application patches should be Installed using "adop" online patching utility.

- Install patch "17204589"

Thank you

Hi

After installing R12.2.0 I am unable to find the EBSApps.env file, after searching on google & oracle forums I found that this file is generated after upgraading to 12.2.4 ?

Please can you confirm ?

Thank you
Kindest regards

Yes, you are correct. AFAIK this file is delivered as a part of 12.2.4 upgrade.

Hi

After upgrading to R12.2.4 The forms-c4ws_server1 server does not start, in the weblogic admin console it is SHUTDOWN.

I looked at the log files under

$APP_BASE//fs1/FMW_Home/user_projects/domains/EBS_domain_VIS/servers/forms-c4ws_server1/logs

The logs files have not been updated (since installing, start/stop R12.2) so I cannot see any errors messages

When looking at the application dashboard in Oracle Application Manager I can see R12.2.4 displayed as the version, green ticks for
host status
Admin
Database
Concurrent Processing

Also green ticks for Web Component Status
Servlet Agent
JSP Agent
TCF

Any ideas?

Thank you
Regards

Hi,

For previous comment (The forms-c4ws_server1 server does not start) this is mentioned in

Oracle E-Business Suite Applications DBA and Technology Stack Release Notes for R12.AD.C.Delta.7 and R12.TXK.C.Delta.7 (Doc ID 2033780.1)

The default value of s_forms-c4wsstatus is now set to 'Disabled'. Thus, the formsc4-ws servers are no longer started during a 'start all' operation.
Thanks

Enable Desktop on Oracle Solaris 11.4

Oracle Solaris 11 installation has multiple options to choose for installation of an Operating Environment, but mostly Oracle Solaris text install media is used and this installation media doesn't offer the GUI Desktop Environment by default after the installation.
