Installation of Oracle Solairs 11 on vmware

Here in this article i will demonstrate how to install oracle Solaris 11 on Vmware server 2. As discussed in previous post. There are different media sources available on oracle website for download.

If you are planning to Install server then you have to download oracle text Installation media.

You can download media from below link:
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/server-storage/solaris11/downloads/index.html

Some High level setps about text Oracle solaris 11 text Installation:

1) It will Install only command mode (no graphics by default)
2) Need to configure IPS for Installation of additional packages
3) Need to Install additional package for enabling GUI Insterface of Oracle Solairs 11

Creation of Oracle Solaris 11 virtual machine:










Installation of Oracle Solaris 11:




 - select required language

- select Install Oracle Solaris

 -press F2 to continue the Installation


- press F2 to select local disk

- press F2 to select layout


- provide Host name and press F2



- Configure IP address and gateway
   192.168.1.91 is my windows dns sever IP address
   orasol.com is my domain name
- If you do not have a dns server then you can keep DNS configuration as blank and proceed





- select TIME ZONE and press F2

- verify date and time then press F2
- provide root password and press F2




- Instllation completed, now reboot and verify all configuration is completed properly



Installation of Oracle Solaris 11.1 text Installation is completed successfully. In this Installation we will not get GUI, it requires additional packages to be Installed.

In next article i  will demonstrate how to configure IPS (Image packaging system) for solaris 11 and how to enable GUI for text Installation.

Same steps will be applicable for solaris sparc platform.

Enable Desktop on Oracle Solaris 11.4

Oracle Solaris 11 installation has multiple options to choose for installation of an Operating Environment, but mostly Oracle Solaris text install media is used and this installation media doesn't offer the GUI Desktop Environment by default after the installation. This blog post will explain how we can enable the desktop for Oracle Solaris 11.4 operating system, after the completion of installation. We have to install "solaris-desktop" package and reboot the machine and GUI desktop will be enabled for the Operating System. In this blog post my virtual machine is connected to the internet and hence I am able to use available pupblic repository for package installation, if in case internet is not available for the server/machine then we have configure the local/Server  repository for the installation. Oracle Applications R12.2 Installation on Linux using virtual box

Oracle E-Business suite R12.2 is released a month ago. I received too many requests from my followers to demonstrate this Installation. This is a step by step detailed article for Installing Oracle E-business suite R12,2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.7 (64-bit). I've used oracle virtual box for Installing Linux. Note:  This Installation is demonstrated on virtual machine with 8GB RAM and Installation completed in 7 hours.
