Installation of Oracle Solaris 10 on vmware Server 2

The below article will be helpful for those who want to install and deploy solaris 10 operating system on stand-alone/virtual machines.

The below is the detail step/step article for configuring Oracle solaris 10 on VmWare Server 2.0

1) creation of virtual machine
2) Installing solaris 10 guest OS


Media required:

- Vmware server 2.0
- Oracle Solaris 10 media

Create virtual machine from Vmware Server console:


























Installation of Solaris 10 Guest OS:

- Power on the created virtual machine






































































































>> Install vmware tools



Installation/configuration of oracle solaris 10 completed successfully on Vm guest.

ntp service in Maintenance mode Solaris 10

Hi, On one of our newly configured solaris 10 server, successfully configured a ntp client. But when trying to start ntp service its getting failed and going into maintance mode. Due to this there a 5 minutes of time difference between this server and other servers. bash-3.00$ svcs ntp maintenance 16:12:09 svc:/network/ntp:default When we check in detail: bash-3.00$ svcs -x ntp svc:/network/ntp:default (Network Time Protocol (NTP)) State: maintenance since Sun Jan 08 08:12:07 2012 Reason: Start method failed repeatedly, last exited with status 1. The below article is step by step procedure to Install oracle E-Business suite R12.1.1 on Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.6 (32-bit) using vmware server 2 on windows 7 64 bit. This is a single node Installation.
